Page Protective Services Limited (PPS), has been providing Executive Protection (EP) services for a number of years. Due to the nature of the service and clientele, we use only highly skilled professionals with a specialization on this field, with-in the private security industry. The EP service, is for clients who wish to implement a mobile, inner layer of security for themselves and/or family members. While the reasons may vary, executive protection services allow clients to go on with their normal routines safely and with minimal distraction.
But what does EP entail? What is EP? How is it delivered? What is the planning process? Who are the people delivering the service? What does it require? In principle and simple terms, EP is the provision of security and risk mitigation measures, to ensure the safety of the client. The client might be a/or person(s) exposed to heighten risks, or high net worth individuals and/or of high profile status, career, affiliations or geographical locations. EP becomes an item of general public interest, usually when it fails.
As with all PPS operations, we start from the design phase, by conducting a number of Risk Assessments, analysing the client’s timeframe, travelling plans, requirements and recourses. Initially, a PESTLE (Political, Economic, Sociological, Technological, and Legal) analysis, to understand the external factors that could affect the decision making process of service delivery. This is followed by a Security Risk Assessment (SRA), to identify, assess and implement key security control measures on preventing and mitigating these documented vulnerabilities, security gaps and threats, taken from an attacker’s prospective. As this is a dynamic environment and conditions change, there is a periodic assessment of the threats, while the risk remains viable.
These security and risk mitigation measures can be anything from residential/office CCTV installations and electronic security monitoring, airlines check and flight path/airports selection, local support, advanced recces, armoured vehicles motorcade/convoy, transportation routes checks and selection, accommodation/residential checks, personal security team composition and size, personal equipment selection, counter attack and counter-surveillance teams, insurance cover, embassies, international organizations, medical facilities, fire and police stations, locations and contact details, means of communication and of course, crisis and emergency response plans. The list is not exhaustive, depending on the findings of the risk assessments as conducted.
The personnel selected to provide this type of service, is considered to be the top of the crop, due to the rigorous demands and specialist training required for service delivery. The selection of a Personal Security Detail (PSD) executive protection team, may vary according to the numerous factors, including:
